Acid attack survivor to be ambassador for women empowerment in Uttarakhand
An acid attack survivor will be the brand ambassador for women empowerment in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Harish Rawat said in Dehradun.
After launching a campaign for gender equality, Rawat said the courage with which Kavita Bisht had fought her way to self-dependence, despite being an acid attack survivor, was exemplary and her story will continue to inspire generations of women across the country.
“Women have proved themselves whenever they have been given an opportunity. Nature has also gifted them with the special ability to do any work assigned to them properly,” he said.
Rawat also cited women’s education, their health, their economic independence and their active participation in the development of mainstream as some of the focus areas for their empowerment.
