Meet the cool boss from Surat who has gifted 400 flats and 1,260 cars to his employees as Diwali bonus
Surat-based billionaire Savji Dholakia is known for giving generous Diwali gifts to his employees. The owner of Hare Krishna Exports, a company that trades in diamonds and textiles, has surpassed all speculation this year, handing out 400 flats and 1,260 cars to his employees as Diwali bonuses.
"We have selected 1,716 employees as the best performers this year. We are arranging for houses for those who already own cars, while those who don't have a four-wheeler will get one," Savji told IANS, reports NDTV. The company celebrates its golden jubilee this year.
Spending Rs 51 crore on Diwali bonuses, Savji's company will bear a part, Rs 5,000, of the loan instalments on the flats and the cars for the next five years. Savji, who is fondly called ‘kaka’ by his employees, added, "The flats will come dirt cheap at Rs 15 lakh, and the monthly instalment, which the employee will start paying after five years, will be Rs 11,000."
Hare Krishna Exports employs over 5,500 people and makes an annual turnover of Rs 6,000 crore. Last year, the company had gifted 491 cars and 200 flats to its employees as Diwali bonus. Speaking to The Indian Express, Savji had said last year, "We don’t treat diamond polishers as employees but as family members as they hail from the same area from where we belong. We have given them gifts as per their performance in the company."
