Where to download BHIM app - the UPI payment app launched by Narendra Modi
I will launch a Mobile App which will enable easier digital payments & transactions. The App will immensely benefit our citizens.
With this announcement by Narendra Modi today, campaign to promote cashless society took another step. Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM), the Aadhaar-based payments developed by the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) is ‘an initiative to enable fast, secure, reliable cashless payments through your mobile phone’. Currently available in Android, the iOS version of the app will be available soon. The app links your bank account to let you transfer money using UPI.
The app may have Aadhaar integration at a later stage.
Link to download BHIM app on your Android phone?
You can download the app from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.org.npci.upiapp
After downloading
The app gives an option to choose between Hindi and English. Once you've selected your preferred language and giving required permissions to the app, verify your mobile number. Please note that same number should be registered with your bank as well.
In case of dual sim phones, you'll have to choose the number accordingly. You'll be asked to enter a 4 digit pass-code, followed by an option to link to your bank(in which you claimed UPI address earlier). Immediately after this verification, you'll be allotted a default UPI address in the format <your_phone_number>@upi. Users can later claim their customized UPI address as well.
