World's first ever IT park for the disabled soon to come up in Hyderabad
For the first time ever, a specially designated IT park is soon going to be established for persons with disability (PwD) in Hyderabad near the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad. Under a model of Public-Private Partnership, the government of Telangana has allocated 10 acres of land for this project. The announcement was made on December 3 on the account of International Day of Persons with Disability.
The unique IT park shall have facilities for training, residential quarters and delivery centres for domestic and international clients. According to a report by Times of India, IT Secretary for Telangana State government Jayesh Ranjan said that the project is also anticipated to create jobs for 2,000 persons with disability in the coming five years by providing them the requisite training and jobs. The park will be developed in phases over the next two years.
For this purpose, the State government has joined hands with Vindhya E-Infomedia Private Limited to build the 10-acre-campus. An Indiatimes report says that the department for Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens will offer aids and appliances like tricycles, motorised vehicles, wheelchairs, calipers, artificial limbs, crutches, hearing aids, laptops, mp3 players and braille books to 12,000 disabled persons.
According to ChaiBisket, Vindhya E-Infomedia is a pioneer in creating an inclusive workspace and the firm employs persons with disabilities as its major workforce. It currently has over 1,600 employees working out of Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Majority of their workforce comprises of physically challenged, hearing impaired, and visually impaired persons. Pre-matric scholarships are to be awarded to 2,000 children with disability, from Class 1 to Class 10. The department has also proposed to provide coaching for competitive examinations to 250 unemployed persons with disability.
