5 times Rahul Subramanian proved that it’s all about excelling at what you do

5 times Rahul Subramanian proved that it’s all about excelling at what you do

Wednesday January 17, 2018 , 3 min Read

Rahul Subramanian is a familiar face on the stand-up circuit. But before playing to packed houses, he like many of us, was climbing the corporate ladder at Mahindra and Mahindra. To his fans, he may just be a goofy and funny guy up on stage, but there’s more to the Mumbai-bred Tamilian comedian than meets the eye.

Here are five times Rahul Subramanian showed the world that he can take challenges head-on.

He rejected his ‘dream job’

Rahul was on his way to a play featuring Paresh Rawal, when he received the news that he had landed a job at Godrej complete with the position and compensation that he had in mind. But he had an epiphany and realised that his heart lay elsewhere - comedy!

He started small

Success didn’t come easy. Rahul started his stand-up journey like every other comedian, by experimenting on open mic nights. He also went on to form the comedy collective Random Chikibum (RCB), along with coworker, Kumar Varun. The duo won the YouTube Comedy Hunt, and then there was no looking back.

He loves what he does

The 29-year old is known for his many collaborations with the likes of All India Bakchod (AIB) and other comedians in the league. But doesn’t it affect his personal stand-up space? He thinks that the opportunities are exciting, but he enjoys doing stand-up the most. He once said, “Making videos is a great way to collaborate with friends, but with stand-up, I get to decide what I say, and how I want to convey it. That’s unbelievably fulfilling.”

He speaks his mind

Rahul doesn’t think twice about letting people know what’s on his mind. One time, someone used one of his jokes without permission. He responded saying, “ In an ideal world, there is a possibility that two people could think of the same joke. Honestly, I don't feel enraged. I understand it, it’s just a joke. Someone tells you a joke and you tell your friend. But it’s my profession. It’s how I make money. So, I’m going to call them out on it.”

He knows how to balance it all

He’s a married man with a schedule that can throw anyone off track. But Rahul manages to do it all. He believes that balancing his priorities hasn’t posed a challenge, yet. He just tries and takes everything, one step at a time.

So come and witness what Rahul Subramanian has been up to, as he talks about his journey from doing an MBA to becoming one of the most loved stand-up comedians, only at the Signature Start-Up Masterclass series in Indore on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

The Signature Start-Up Masterclass series celebrates those who found their passion and dared to pursue it. It is a unique opportunity for people to hear their icons share the story of how they managed to successfully convert their passion into paychecks.

Held across 14 cities with an impressive line-up of speakers and hosted by actor Neil Bhoopalam, the series follows role models who became successful doing what they love. The Masterclass sessions are followed by a musical/stand-up comedy performance by the celebrities themselves or a local artiste.

Tickets for the Signature Start-Up Masterclass with Rahul Subramanian are available at BookMyShow and signaturestartup.in
