Now you can pick up your online-ordered Xiaomi phones from Smartbox digital lockers
The Chinese smartphone has tied up with the Delhi-based startup for easing last-mile delivery for its online orders.
Beijing-based smartphone brand Xiaomi today launched a new ‘smart delivery’ option in India, in partnership with Smartbox, a Delhi-based startup that provides smart lockers which enable easy last-mile delivery for e-commerce.
According to a press release from Xiaomi, the new delivery option allows users to opt for a smartbox delivery on Mi.com and Mi Store app. It means users can pick Smartbox as a delivery option, and get their online purchase delivered to a digital locker near their location. The locker can be accessed with a unique OTP and users can pick up their purchase anytime as per their convenience within 72 hours.
“Xiaomi believes in giving its users choice and the option to have their purchases picked up from a safe, convenient and accessible location is another step in that direction. The end-to-end smart offering gives Mi Fans a service that fits into their lifestyle with the aid of technology,” said the press release.
Smartbox, which was launched in 2015, provides digital parcel lockers across Delhi NCR, and plans to expand to other parts of the country. The company provides round-the-clock address or destination, or a ‘terminal’, where parcels can be delivered and withdrawn by the end consumer. This terminal is a completely automated machine, and works like an ATM or a locker.
The online shopper does not have to physically co-ordinate with a courier person to accept deliveries, thus sorting out the issue of receiving deliveries when they are not at home. If they select the ‘Smartbox’ option while checking out, the parcel can be delivered to one of their terminals around the city by the courier company, and the shopper picks up the same.
Raghu Reddy, Head – Online Sales, Xiaomi India, said in the press statement, “Our vision is to bring innovation to everyone and our integration with Smartbox is another step forward in this direction. As a global technology leader, we try to bring solutions to our Mi fans which make for an enjoyable experience. With this new smart delivery option, we hope to provide an even better purchasing experience that is truly smart and user-centric.”
Mi.com claims to have over 25 million unique visitors in one month and over one million daily active users on an average. They also say that Mi Store app on Google Play has over 20 million app installs with more than 10 million organic downloads.
