Startup Sports League 5K Run gives you a chance to celebrate yourself, push your limits. Register today
As entrepreneurs, startup enthusiasts, innovators and change advocates we all have different skills, passions and beliefs. But if there’s one thing that unites us all, it is the inherent desire to be better than our best every single time.
The Startup Sports League 5K Run aims to celebrate this spirit of competing with yourself and pushing yourself harder towards your goals. This run is all about you and has one single cause -- championing yourself.
While many of you are active runners, have participated in marathons and other running events, and have a fair idea of all the dos and don’ts, those just starting off on this route needn’t worry. We’ve even got beginners covered.
Here are some tips to help you prep up for the 5K run
- Start practising right away. While a four-week duration is ideal for practising, you can start by running for 1 km, and increasing that distance by 500 meters every third day.
- Remember to start with a 10 minute warm-up and stretching session before your daily run. This will help to reduce muscle soreness and decrease the chances of injury.
- Doing any cross-training activity like cycling, swimming or any other cardio session for 30-40 minutes every day will be beneficial
- Reserve one day in a week as a recovery day, to give your body that much-needed rest.
Also, if you are on any special medication, please ensure that you carry them with you on the day of the run. And in case, you are undergoing treatment for any injury or ailment, do check with your doctor if you can participate before signing up. Of course it goes without saying, but please be on time and reach the venue at least 60 minutes before the run.
We hope to see you on March 4 at the starting line and cheer you along as we run towards the finish line. Not only is this a chance to push your personal limits, you will also get to meet interesting people, and show your support to the community we have built together.
If you are interested in other form of sports, there’s a lot on offer as well. Do register for other team games including basketball, badminton, football, throwball and cricket, and also some fun team games like tug o’ war, lagori and laser tag. Block your calendars for March 10 and 11!
