With a revamp of its messaging strategy courtesy Hangouts Chat, Google is entering the business communication arena and aims to give businesses easier and better ways to manage projects.
Today, with mobile sales teams spread out across locations there is a larger need to collaborate faster when closing a deal. In a recent blog announcement, Google has showcased how the G Suite transforms the way teams collaborate, with intelligent tools that help them solve problems faster and focus their time on work that matters. They have launched intelligent updates to G Suite to give businesses even more ways to manage projects—like closing a sales deal or bringing a new product to market—from one place. We list some of the features for developers to help businesses.
Use a new, centralised platform to stay aligned on projects and make decisions quicker.
Hangouts Chat makes it easy to collaborate efficiently so teams can make faster decisions. With team chat rooms and threaded conversations, powerful search functionality, and intelligent bots that connect workflows and speed up tasks (even with 3rd party apps), the manager can work on projects from one spot—like opening a new store location or launching an advertising campaign. The Chat has deep integrations with other G Suite apps like Google Drive, Calendar, and Hangouts Meet, and built-in security to meet retention, eDiscovery, and regulatory/compliance needs for enterprises. Developers can build their own bots for their business or the B2B customers they target.
Spend less time setting up meetings and more time accomplishing goals.
Google wants to make it simple to manage meetings, which is why they have built tools to help the developer surface conference room information and find times to meet. In the coming months, Calendar will use artificial intelligence to automatically suggest rooms for the manager to book. And because they’ll be optimised for each attendee based on their building and floor location, previous booking history, audio/video equipment needs, and room capacity requirements, they (managers) can feel confident that they are booking the right space for the team to be productive.
Solve problems face-to-face with teammates over video, right away.
Sometimes it’s best to jump into an online meeting face-to-face with colleagues so you don’t hold up progress. Now, teams can quickly transition from a conversation in Chat and join a Hangouts Meet video conferencing meeting with just a few clicks.
Spend less time searching for the right documents and more time on ideas.
The Quick Access to Docs will help teams focus their time on work that matters (similar to Quick Access in Drive). Quick Access uses artificial intelligence to suggest relevant files based on signals like Drive activity and information in your documents, so you can work with the most up-to-date information and create new material quickly. Let’s say your global marketing team needs a central project plan; the team can start a Doc and use Quick Access in the Explore panel to find information from related files and add it into the plan quickly.
It seems like Google is going to take on SalesForce.com and SAP in their strategy to go to business. A lot of young startups with a team size of 50 to 100 can change the game with this easy-to-use app. How will Google make money? When your usage goes up, Google makes money. It's like how we all are hooked to Gmail, but we pay for increasing the size of our storage.
Now, small businesses don’t have to worry about a chat bot integration; Google Hangouts can do the job.
