Zilingo, UClean raise funds; Ola launches in-trip insurance programme

Ecommerce marketplace Zilingo has raised $54 million Series C funding led by Sofina, Burda Principal Investments, and Sequoia Capital, while Amadeus Capital joined in as a new investor. Existing investors Tim Draper, Venturra, Beenext, SIG, and Manik Arora also participated in the round. The additional funds will be used to boost business and expand into other markets to help Zilingo grow as a market leader.

Faridabad-based UClean raised the pre-Series A funding from the US-based angel investor, Anubhav Chopra. With new funding in its kitty, the laundry startup is entering the dry-cleaning segment with ‘UClean Select’ and is also launching UClean mobile app for end-user convenience.


Ecommerce market leader Flipkart has entered into a partnership with online travel and ticketing platform MakeMyTrip to launch its entry into the online travel sector. Users can leverage MakeMyTrip’s travel services on Flipkart’s platform. Online ticket booking services offered by Goibibo and Redbus, other travel platforms owned by MakeMyTrip, will also be available on Flipkart.


Microsoft India announced it had selected 12 startups for its 12th cohort of Microsoft ScaleUp (previously known as Microsoft Accelerator). ScaleUp is part of the Microsoft for Startups initiative, that aims to invest $500 million over the next two years to deliver access to technology, go-to-market, and community benefits that helps startups grow their customer and revenue base. This is in line with the company's efforts and vision to strengthen the collaboration between startups and corporates.

Cab aggregator Ola has launched a comprehensive in-trip insurance programme for its customers, which extends up to Rs 5 lakh. The programme extends across categories of commute like cabs, autos, kaali-peeli, and e-rickshaws. It is now being rolled out for customers in major metro cities and will be scaled up to all cities, covering the entire base in the coming few weeks.
