BookMyShow enters international market with event ticketing

BookMyShow enters international market with event ticketing

Thursday June 21, 2018 , 3 min Read

Mumbai-based ticketing platform BookMyShow on Wednesday announced that it has ventured into ticketing for international events. The launch announcement came with multi Tony-award winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The King and I. This is in association with Trafalgar Entertainment Group.

Now, with this association, any Indian traveling to Europe can add The King and I easily to their itineraries. It will also ensure a lot of their productions eventually travel to India to reach a larger base of its consumers here.

Albert Almeida, COO Non-Movies, BookMyShow stated in a press note that millions of Indian tourists travel abroad every year, and many of them are increasingly traveling to satiate their appetite for international entertainment - be it watching their favourite artist live, supporting their football team, or to grab a bit of world class theatre.

The BookMyShow team thus believed that there was an opportunity in fulfilling the need of these audiences that travel or who are planning to travel. Indian customers will now be able to get their tickets seamlessly for some of the biggest international events happening around the world, be it live concerts, theatre or even sports.

Apart from this, BookMyShow will also work as a co-producer for the show. Commenting on this, Albert explains that BookMyShow has been working with partners across the world to bring some of the best entertainment experiences to India.

While the team is looking to bring the production to India, as co-producers, they are also keen to work with leading production houses such as Trafalgar Entertainment to adopt some of their best practices to ensure the audiences here get the same world-class experience that they would get at the Broadway or the West End.

Sir Howard Panter, Joint CEO and Creative Director, Trafalgar Entertainment Group, said in a press note,

"We are delighted to partner on the launch of BookMyShow’s first international production to the people of India, with the magnificent production of The King And I this summer at the London Palladium. We look forward to opening the doors of this iconic venue to all who are visiting the UK this year.”

Over late last year and early this year, BookMyShow has been foraying into different parts of the entertainment vertical. BookMyShow launched its audio entertainment platform Jukebox in September last year. It has even launched a show with RJ - Nikhil Chinapa. BookMyShow has partnered with artists such as Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, and The Chainsmokers.

A report by Kalagato suggests BookMyShow commands 78 percent of the market share in its segment, and said the company had a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 0.52, and average order value of Rs 446.90 between January and March 2017. BookMyShow also started operations in Indonesia last year.
