Collaboration is one of the critical drivers for innovation and the two are deeply interconnected. In fact there’s ample research that backs this.

Which is why global leader in enterprise networking SAP has been a driving force in enabling this collaboration between startups and enterprises. SAP Startup Social, an annual summit hosted by SAP Lab India, is one such a vibrant and exciting event which focuses on bringing together different stakeholders to initiate conversations around the Indian startup ecosystem and its future.

Started in 2016, not only is this one of the coolest events in town, it’s a forum where various collaborators in India’s startup ecosystem, including enterprises, startups, investors, thought leaders, and influencers, comes onto a single platform. The event not only facilitates conversations on how startups can collaborate with the SAP ecosystem in India, it also gives them a platform to showcase the successes achieved as a result of this collaboration. During the summit, startups that are part of the SAP Startup Studio accelerator programme, the company’s flagship incubation platform, get to showcase and share their innovative solutions with the world


This year, SAP Startup Social 2018, in its third edition, promises to be even more exciting.

The event, to be inaugurated by Dilip Kumar Khandelwal, President and Global Head – SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud & MD, SAP Labs India will have a number of eminent and expert speakers. Amitabh Kant, CEO – NITI Aayog, Deepak Bagla, MD & CEO, InvestIndia, and PC Mustafa, founder of ID Foods will deliver key note addresses. Other speakers include Peter Vesterbacka (of Angry Birds fame), Flipkart’s Binny Bansal and PayU India’s Jitendra Gupta.

Nitin Kamath, CEO and co-founder of Zerodha will talk about the art of customer acquisition, while Rajiv Srivatsa, co-founder and CPTO of Urban Ladder will conduct a session on the relevance of product design.

Panel discussions include one on ‘Data-driven Economy: Perspective from Startups and Enterprises’, moderated by Pankaj Mishra, CEO of Factor Daily, with panelists Kaushik Bagchi, VP - Digital Enterprise Platform Group at SAP India, Santanu Bhattacharya, Chief Data Scientist at Airtel and Swapnil Shah, CEO and Co-founder of Freight Tiger. Post-lunch, there’s an informative discussion on ‘Building a Vibrant Ecosystem- Perspectives from Policy-Makers’ moderated by Neeraj Athalye, Head- SAP Leonardo and GST Adoption, India Subcontinent. The panelists include Gaurav Gupta IAS, Principal Secretary – IT, BT and S&T , Jayesh Ranjan, IAS Principal IT Secretary of Telangana, Margaret Hellwig-Botte, Consul General – German Consulate and Sanjeev Malhotra, CEO – NASSCOM CoE -IoT. Followed up by an Investor Panel moderated by Krishnan Chatterjee, Chief Customer Officer & Head – Marketing, India Subcontinent. The panellists include Natarajan R from RNT Associates, Mohan Kumar from Norwest Venture Partners, Parag Dhol from Inventus, Ganapathy Venugopal from Axilor Ventures.

Other informative and exciting sessions lined up are a ‘speed dating’ event which will see investors in conversation with 25 best startups from the Startup Social , Sessions on SAP Leonardo & Co- Innovation and partner engagement, an investor roundtable with leading VCs and SAP India leadership, and a session on design for startups with a panel of Design experts such as Rajib Ghosh (Principal Design Manager – Microsoft India), and Narendra Ghate (Head of Research, UX, Service Design – Tata Elxsi)

The day would close with a Get In The Ring – Enterprise Challenge moderated by Jochem Cuppen, Global Director – Get In The Ring Foundation featuring 6 exciting B2B startups. The top 2 teams from this challenge, get an opportunity to pitch at the Get In The Ring Global event scheduled in 2019.

Apart from all the learning, pointers and anecdotes, the takeaways will include a chance to network with peers, experts, investors and other influencers from the ecosystem.
