From traditional gifts such as lamps, chocolates and accessories to customised gifting, Diwali gifts are now just a click away. Bring in more fun this festive season with these unique offerings.

Diwali is the perfect time to gift your loved ones. While the festival of lights is almost here and houses are being cleaned up and decorated, people are also speeding up their last-minute shopping to give their token of love to family and friends.

According to IndianRetailer.com, the gifting market in India is pegged at $30 billion, of which $400 million could be attributed to the digital space. When segregated into separate categories, the share of festival gifting stands at $7.5 billion, personal gifting accounts for $20 billion and corporate gifting is at $2.5 billion.

While there are many ventures offering gifting services, only some are offering customised products this Diwali.

As too many options will only leave us confused, we bring to you a set of startups that are offering unique gifts to make the choice easier.

Zwende

Zwende’s attractive website interface and the sheer aesthetic of its products makes the platform special.Founded by Sujay Suresh and Innu Nevatia in 2017, Zwende allows you to customise everything - from bags to lamps, and offers everything almost at the same price.

This Diwali, it is offering custom and handmade Diwali decorations and lighting made from indigenous artisans from across India. The products are in the range of Rs 300 to Rs 3,000.

Based in Bengaluru, Zwende also offers handcrafted products across fashion and home decor - bags, travel accessories, lampshades, stationery,etc. Currently bootstrapped, the company has seen some great traction with corporate gifting as well, and a client base that includes names such as Google USA, Toyota Insurance and startups such as Mech Mocha, Rizort, and Global Adjustments based in India. BigSmall

Delhi-based BigSmall was started by brothers Yatin Hans and Aman Hans in April 2016. The startup has novelty gifting products and also niche essential and innovative products. The products are priced for around Rs 1,500 on an average, and varies from product to product.

BigSmall works with suppliers from India and across the world such as China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, the US and the UK, to source products for its online gift shop.

The bootstrapped company says it lists only 250-300 products at a time. This Diwali, it is offering lamps, fairy lights, neon lights, incense burners, etc.  Website

Oye Happy

Co-founded by Varun Todi and his cousin Harshvardhan Khemani in 2014, Oye Happy offers surprises, experiences and products such as selfie frames, customised scrapbooks, LED greetings, handcrafted chocolates, personalised story books, etc. This festive season, it is offering Diwali special personalised magnets, cracker-shaped hampers, Diwali mail box comprising chocolates, postcards, etc. The average ticket size for a gift is Rs 1,950 and for an experience it is Rs 7,500.

This Hyderabad-based company gifts experiences not just to individuals and groups, but to corporates too. OyeHappy is operational in 200 cities across the country, and has partners in hospitality, aviation, talent management, as well as media houses and sports and celebrity management companies.  Website

Wedtree

Chennai-based Wedtree helps send return gifts after weddings and festivals. Founded in 2014 by Anand Krishnamoorthy and Brindha Padmanaabhan, Wedtree began as an online platform, but now has a store in Chennai and Hyderabad.

This Diwali, it is offering chocolates, fruit boxes, decorative candle stands, diyas with stand, diya with bells, etc. Bootstrapped Wedtree works with handicraft artisans to ensure its products are of high quality, which range from Rs 20 to Rs 1,000. The founders claim the website sees an average traffic of over 13,500 visitors each day, which spikes between August and February, and its conversion rate is 0.6 percent. Website

Indigifts

Jaipur-based Indibni started its signature gifting brand Indigifts in 2014. The website lists more than 15,000 items including cushions, coffee mugs, fridge magnets, clocks, t-shirts, key chains, badges and notebooks among other things.

It claims it has something to offer everyone in the family and uses ‘Hinglish’ and oft-used dialogues on its products. Founded by Nithin Jain, Ankit Jain and Khushbu Mathur, this festive season,the platform is offering items such as table mats for Rs 549, Diwali wishes, diya lamp patterns, etc. Website
