OYO has a new boss! Hospitality startup OYO on Thursday announced Aditya Ghosh to be its new CEO for India and South Asia, effective from December 1. This comes as a part of the company’s efforts to continue to invest in and attract world-class leadership in the wake of its focus to drive accelerated growth in its home markets - India and China.

The unexpected exit of Flipkart Co-founder Binny Bansal from the company was quite unsettling for the Indian startup ecosystem. We spoke to entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and legal heads on the key points any startup founder or co-founders should keep in mind before a potential M&A, where the acquirer is a much bigger company. However, investors believe the event will not hamper the growth of the startup ecosystem, but say it highlights the need for greater transparency and disclosure among startups.

The recent growth in emerging technologies such as big data, IoT, cybersecurity, has led to a sharp increase in demand for a differently skilled IT workforce. A new Cisco-IDC study estimates India would be adding 1.4 million new IT jobs in these areas by 2027. Roles witnessing the highest demand right now are Cyber Security Specialist, Data Scientist, Network Administrator/Architect, Business Intelligence Architect, Machine Learning Designer, etc.

During an exclusive session on women entrepreneurship, Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, announced that smartphones would be given to six lakh Mission Shakti groups in the state. The session was organised on November 14, during the second edition of the Make in Odisha Conclave 2018. Mission Shakti, Odisha's flagship self-help group programme, was launched by the Chief Minister in 2001.

Bengaluru-based HR tech startup UpYourGame aims to solve the problem of attrition at companies by addressing ‘performance management’ with an AI and ML-based enterprise solution. The company was founded in 2017 by Kishore Chand, Sofia Chand, Amogh Kamath and Tejas Kamath in Dubai.
