Another exit at Whatsapp - Neeraj Arora quits as Chief Business Officer after 7-year stint
Neeraj Arora quit as the Chief Business Officer of WhatsApp. Says to spend some personal time with family.
After WhatsApp Co-founders Brian Acton and Jan Koum, Chief Business Officer Neeraj Arora has also quit the Facebook-owned company.
Neeraj joined WhatsApp in 2011 and in a small Facebook post, IIT alumnus thanked Brian Acton and Jan Koum trusting in him.
"Time flies for sure but not memories. It is hard to believe that it has been seven years since Jan and Brian got me onboard at WhatsApp, and it has been one hell of a ride! I've been blessed to work with a small set of talented people and see how maniacal focus can create something magical which is loved by billions of people."
He added it was time for him to move on and said, "I cannot be more proud of how WhatsApp continues to touch people in so many different ways every day. I am confident that WhatsApp will continue to be the simple, secure and trusted communication product for years to come."
Neeraj, in his post, said that he would be taking time off to recharge and for his family. "I am deeply indebted to Jan and Brian, who entrusted me to be their business companion for so many years and I am thankful to each one of you who has supported me along the way and made this exciting journey possible," he wrote in the Facebook post.
Neeraj did not reveal any future plans.
High profile exits from WhatsApp come at a time when the messaging app has been facing allegations over breach of privacy and spreading misinformation to a large audience, reports Business Today. After Jan resigned earlier this year, Neeraj was believed to be the next in line for the post of CEO, but Chris Daniels, the former VP of Internet.org by Facebook, was chosen for the post.
WhatsApp in a press release said,
"WhatsApp is grateful for the dedication, focus, and outstanding work of our early leaders and team. We remain deeply committed to providing a way for people to communicate privately now and in the future," India Today reported.
Before joining WhatsApp, Neeraj served as a member on the board of directors in Paytm for three years, and was Principle, Corporate Development, at Google.
