PayU appoints ex-Visa exec Shailesh Paul as CEO of paytech arm Wibmo
As the CEO, Paul will lead Wibmo’s strategic vision, focusing on global expansion and innovation in areas such as authentication, digital identity, and fraud prevention.
PayU, the digital financial services firm backed by Prosus, has appointed Shailesh Paul as the new Chief Executive Officer of its payments technology division, Wibmo, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
Paul joins Wibmo with over two decades of experience in digital payments, consumer banking, and fintech across Asia Pacific, India, and the Middle East.
He previously held senior roles at Visa, including Global Head of SMB Acceptance and Head of Merchant Acquiring for India and South Asia. His work experience also includes stints at Standard Chartered and Mastercard.
As CEO, Paul will lead Wibmo’s strategic vision, focusing on global expansion and innovation in areas, such as authentication, digital identity, and fraud prevention. He is also expected to advance the company’s risk-based decision-making platforms and secure transaction services in line with regulatory requirements.

Wibmo—with operations in India, the US, and Indonesia—positions itself as a full-stack paytech company, which offers authentication services, fraud management solutions, digital financial services, and prepaid solutions. It is also one of India’s largest providers of authentication services.
