Bullwork Mobility is automating the agritech sector with EVs
Bengaluru-based cleantech startup Bullwork Mobility has created its own platform containing the entire electrical architecture stack and autonomous stack, which helps it make different EVs for the agritech sector.
In the increasingly lucrative electric two-wheeler (EV) market in India—valued at $1.6 billion in 2024—Hemanth Kumar saw that no one was building EVs for the agriculture and construction sectors.
Following that realisation, in 2021, Kumar (CEO) partnered with Sriharsha Sheshanarayana (CTO) and Vinay Raghuram to co-found —a cleantech startup building autonomous EVs to empower India's agrarian community.
"We first started building an electric tractor, but realised making only one product would mean our startup would have a pretty narrow application. So, we built our platform Bh.ai that had the entire electrical architecture stack and autonomous stack, where we can make different vehicles out of it," Kumar tells YourStory.
The startup has an 80-member team based in Bengaluru, along with a production facility. In 2021, the cleantech startup raised angel funding of $2 million from Mahesh Shetty, Managing Director of Multiplex Group of Companies, after which, Shetty joined Bullwork Mobility as a co-founder.
Building products
Bullwork Mobility's product portfolio offers five different product lines. It initially developed a sprayer called the Warrior, which served as an early product to validate Bh.ai's underlying assumptions.
This strategic decision allowed the startup to test its platform's capabilities with a simpler vehicle before moving to more complex machinery.
The startup's focus on autonomy and electrification addresses two critical challenges facing Indian agriculture: the rising cost of diesel and the shortage of agricultural labour.
It also created Vamana—a mini tractor that has now become a separate product vertical—used for industrial tagging and factory automation, with a cost ranging from Rs 12-15 lakh. The versatility of the Vamana has opened up unexpected market opportunities beyond agriculture, demonstrating the flexibility of the Bh.ai platform in serving diverse industry needs, the startup claims.
Bullwork Mobility’s core mission, however, remains the development of electric, autonomous tractors for the agritech market. It launched a 35 HP autonomous tractor, Beast, last year, which costs more than Rs 20 lakh. Beast combines AI, IoT, and precision control through the Bh.ai system, creating a connected ecosystem that delivers both sustainability and intelligent operation.
The startup is also in the process of developing a more powerful 75 HP tractor, anticipated to be released in March 2026.
"All vehicles are designed to be smart from day one, equipped with a telematics device that gathers over 200 data points every second to facilitate extensive automation and enable applications like predictive maintenance," the CEO says.
This data-driven approach not only enhances vehicle performance but also provides valuable insights to farmers about their operations, helping them optimise productivity and reduce downtime, he adds.
By leveraging the modular Bh.ai platform, Bullwork Mobility aims to continue expanding its product range while maintaining consistency in quality and technological sophistication across all its offerings.
So far, the startup has sold 30 Vamanas, 4 Warriors (boom sprayer), and one 0X-1 (manually guided vehicle).
Growth in the sector
The CEO says India’s EV industry is expected to grow at a 35–40% CAGR through 2030, with strong adoption across two-wheelers, commercial vehicles, and agricultural machinery.
In the electric tractor segment, key players include Montra Tractors, Autonxt Automation, and Moonrider, who primarily focus on electrifying traditional tractors for farming operations.
Kumar says that Bullwork Mobility differentiates itself by building an EV-first, autonomous-ready platform rather than retrofitting diesel designs. He adds that his startup isn’t just electrifying machines, but it’s “redefining the way mobility, automation, and intelligence come together in industrial and agricultural ecosystems”.
