Curiosity is a superpower, says Ketto Co-founder and Actor Kunal Kapoor
In today’s hyperconnected world, Kapoor believes curiosity is one of the greatest advantages anyone can have. “Curiosity is a superpower. With so much information and opportunity around us, the one thing we should never lose is the need to be curious.”
The key to lasting success lies in staying true to your purpose and staying endlessly curious, says actor and Ketto Co-founder Kunal Kapoor.
In a fireside chat with YourStory Founder and CEO Shradha Sharma at TechSparks 2025, Kapoor reflected on how curiosity has shaped both his artistic and entrepreneurial journeys. For him, curiosity isn’t just a personality trait—it’s a way of life.
Whether he’s in front of the camera or building a company, Kapoor believes success comes from never losing sight of why you started.
“I don’t think there’s ever been a grand plan,” he says with a smile. “But whether it’s acting or entrepreneurship, you should never lose focus on your purpose—why you started in the first place.”
On the importance of being firm in one's purpose, Kapoor adds, “With startups, you begin with a purpose: to build something meaningful, to change something. Then, an investor asks you to pivot, or competition pushes you to cut costs, and suddenly, your story starts to get diluted. You become like everybody else. That’s a dangerous space to be in.”
For Kapoor, clarity of purpose is what keeps him grounded.
“Even with films, there have been projects that didn’t work commercially, but my ‘why’ was clear, so I was never disappointed. And there have been films that did well, but the ‘why’ didn’t align with my values and that left me unsatisfied,” he shares.
Beyond purpose, curiosity is what truly drives him. “I’m constantly curious. I’ve never looked at myself only as Kunal Kapoor the actor. I can be Kunal Kapoor the pilot, the race car driver, the entrepreneur, the poet, or the writer—whatever I choose to explore,” he says.
In today’s hyperconnected world, Kapoor believes curiosity is one of the greatest advantages anyone can have. “Curiosity is a superpower. With so much information and opportunity around us, the one thing we should never lose is the need to be curious.”
