Blinkit CFO Vipin Kapooria resigns
Kapooria's resignation comes at a time when competition in quick commerce space has intensified, and a few days after rival Zepto filed preliminary papers to raise Rs 11,000 crore through an IPO.
Vipin Kapooria, Chief Financial Officer of Eternal-owned quick commerce major Blinkit, has resigned a year after he joined the firm, sources said on Tuesday.
Kapooria, a former Flipkart executive, has "moved on" from Blinkit, said people close to the development.
There was no formal statement from Blinkit or its parent firm Eternal regarding the development.
The Economic Times reported, citing a source, that Kapooria is heading back to Flipkart in a senior finance role.
Prior to Flipkart, Kapooria was Vice President - Business Finance at SoftBank-backed OYO, which is en route to list on the public bourses.
Kapooria's resignation comes at a time when competition in the quick commerce space has intensified. It also comes a few days after rival Zepto filed preliminary papers with markets regulator Sebi to raise Rs 11,000 crore through an initial public offering (IPO) using the confidential route.
Blinkit, Zepto and Swiggy Instamart are locked in a fierce competition in the quick commerce sector. Flipkart and Amazon are also expanding rapidly in the segment. Flipkart is also reportedly gearing up for a potential listing next year.
Blinkit has seen significant growth in 2025 with the company overtaking the gross order value of Zomato—the core food delivery business of Eternal—for the first time. It runs around 1,816 dark stores and aims to cross 2,000 stores by the end of this calendar year.
Shares of Eternal were trading down 2.2% at Rs 276.7 apiece as of 1:31 PM IST.
