Zomato hikes platform fee by 19%
Zomato has raised its platform fee by 19.2% to Rs 14.90, citing rising energy costs amid climbing crude prices. The move will make food delivery pricier for users, even as rivals like magicpin hold rates steady for now.
Food delivery platform Zomato has increased its platform fee from Rs 12.50 to Rs 14.90, a 19.2% jump, according to details on its app.
The last time Zomato hiked the platform fee was in September 2025, and the latest increase is largely due to the rising energy costs.
The increase is expected to make food ordering more expensive for millions of users across India, especially at a time when crude oil prices are climbing amid the West Asia conflict. Higher fuel prices are likely to further raise delivery costs.
Zomato’s rival Swiggy has been charging a platform fee of Rs 14.99 inclusive of GST from its users.
Meanwhile, magicpin, the third-largest food delivery player, which currently charges a platform fee of Rs 14.20 per order, ruled out a hike at least for the time being.
Anshoo Sharma, CEO & Founder, magicpin, said, "At a time when the food delivery ecosystem is navigating a tough phase with rising costs, we have consciously decided not to increase our platform fee to support our restaurant partners and keep food delivery accessible for customers".
Zomato now operates as one of the business segments under parent company Eternal, alongside quick commerce platform Blinkit and B2B supply chain business Hyperpure. Blinkit and Hyperpure turned EBITDA profitable in the third quarter of FY26.
For the third quarter, Eternal saw adjusted revenue growth of 64% to Rs 16,315 crore on an annual basis. On a sequential basis, its revenue grew 20% from Rs 13,590 crore in the September quarter, shared the company in an exchange filing.
On a consolidated level, its business-to-consumer (B2C) business saw its net order value (NOV) surge to Rs 25,732 crore, a 55% jump from last year.
