Gabit, an AI-powered longevity platform; Precision hiring at the workplace
Gabit, founded by Arpana Shahi and Gaurav Gupta, is building a preventive healthcare ecosystem with a smart ring at its core. Meanwhile, in a rapidly changing world, the focus is not just on finding more people but also on securing the right specialised talent.
Hello,
AI is giving consumer products a makeover.
Cosmetics company L’Oreal recently used AI to identify molecules from its skincare products that could be repurposed for a collagen shampoo. Brands like Nestle, Cadbury and Toblerone are also using AI to test ingredients, create recipes, address supply chain gaps, and step up processes.
In other news, actor and entrepreneur Kunal Kapoor has launched MetaGO, a doctor-led metabolic health platform, on the firm belief that India’s rising burden of obesity and related metabolic diseases requires continuous medical care rather than short-term weight-loss interventions.
MetaGO aims to combine specialist consultations, diagnostics, clinically appropriate GLP-1 therapies, nutrition guidance, and long-term clinical monitoring. This comes at a time when demand for evidence-based obesity treatment is growing.
Meanwhile, beauty and fashion platform Nykaa is upbeat about its first quarter performance. It expects nearly a 30% net revenue growth in Q1 of FY2026-27, led by a sharp acceleration in its fashion business. The company attributes the growth of its core platform business to a wider brand assortment and recent marketing investments, which it said translated into new customer acquisitions.
Lastly, Next Bharat Ventures, which is backed by Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation, has announced its second fund of Rs 2,000 crore. The fund aims to support startups across sectors, including agriculture, financial inclusion, healthcare, and AI for social good in India.

Gabit, an AI-powered longevity platform

From an AI-powered smart ring that tracks key health metrics to a platform that analyses over 150 biomarkers, Gabit, founded by Arpana Shahi and Gaurav Gupta, is building a preventive healthcare ecosystem.
Like many founders, Arpana Shahi realised during the pandemic that one of the biggest unsolved consumer challenges was health. She observed that most conversations and solutions were centred on treating illness rather than preventing it, leaving a significant gap in the preventive healthcare space. This observation led to the birth of Gabit with a smart ring at its core.
What Gabit does:
- Gabit Smart Ring caters to users across the fitness spectrum. For athletes, it offers on-demand VO₂ max tracking, a key indicator of cardiovascular fitness, endurance, and longevity. VO₂ is the maximum volume of oxygen your body can use during intense exercise.
- The ring also monitors sleep stages, including deep sleep and REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, and generates a recovery score to help users build healthier habits over time.
- Gabit is positioning itself as more than a wearable company, building a longevity ecosystem that tracks over 150 biomarkers through a suite of products and services, including a smart scale, blood tests, and a continuous glucose monitor.
Report
Precision hiring at the workplace

The Indian employment landscape is undergoing a fundamental reset as organisations move away from the old model of high-volume recruitment towards a more surgical approach known as precision hiring, says a report by upGrad Rekrut, the talent acquisition and staffing arm of edtech company upGrad.
The focus for 2027 is not just on finding more people but also on securing the right specialised talent at speed to navigate a rapidly changing economic environment, the report says.
Changing landscape:
- The rise of AI is forcing a re-evaluation of technical skills across all sectors. As AI reshapes how businesses build and operate, access to specialised digital and engineering talent will become a key differentiator.
- The broader market is maturing from simple back-office operations into sophisticated hubs of innovation.
- Husain Tinwala, CEO of upGrad Rekrut, says, “Organisations that combine speed, capability-led hiring and strong talent pipelines will be best positioned to build resilient workforces and outperform in the years ahead."
