Misochain makes the flight-critical aircraft components that India usually imports
The Bengaluru-based company builds air data probes, actuators, vibration isolation systems and solenoid valves for defence platforms, commercial aviation and drone manufacturers.
An air data probe is a small sensor on the outside of an aircraft that measures airspeed, altitude, and some even measure the angle of attack. Flight control systems depend on what it reports. Components of this kind are tightly regulated and, in India, still largely imported, even as the country builds more of its own aircraft and defence platforms. The gap sits in the subsystems rather than the airframes.
was founded in Bengaluru in 2019 by Rama Kandula and Murali Krishnan, both former Honeywell Aerospace engineers. Kandula, the CEO, has said that India has built strong aircraft and defence platforms while many flight-critical subsystems still depend on overseas suppliers.
The company makes air data probes, vibration isolation systems, actuators and solenoid valves, all of which feed into aircraft flight management and control. It says it is among the first in India to pursue indigenous development of air data probes.
Certification is the hard part
The barrier in this segment is not machining. It is a qualification. A flight-critical component has to be certified before it can be fitted. The process is long, and once a supplier is approved, the relationship tends to last for the life of the platform. That combination keeps new entrants out and keeps incumbents in place for decades.
Misochain holds AS9100D certification, the aerospace quality management standard, for both design and manufacturing. Its investor has said the company has reached technical qualification for flight-critical systems, which places it among a small group of suppliers relevant to India's defence ecosystem and to global supply chains.
The company has also developed its own probe-heating technology, built for the temperature extremes a probe meets in flight. Ice forming on an air data probe is a known hazard, because a blocked probe reports the wrong airspeed to the flight control system. Heating the probe reliably, at altitude and in the cold, is a large part of what qualification tests for.
Its manufacturing model is deliberately light. Misochain outsources precision machining to qualified partners and keeps design, assembly, testing, certification and intellectual property in-house. That keeps capital requirements down in an industry where tooling is expensive.
Rs 18 crore, and a factory to build
Misochain raised Rs 18 crore in a seed round announced in January 2026, led by Capital-A, a venture fund focused on manufacturing and deep technology. The company is part of MaXcel, a hardware and industrial technology accelerator that Capital-A runs with SanchiConnect, which backs startups working on advanced manufacturing.
The money is going into a dedicated manufacturing facility for critical aerospace components, faster certification programmes, and expansion of engineering, testing and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capability.
The customers it is aiming at are drone manufacturers, defence platforms and global aerospace buyers. Kandula has said the investment lets the company advance certification timelines, expand engineering depth and move closer to serial deployment across defence and aviation platforms.
Capital-A has framed its interest around the same constraint. Ankit Kedia, who leads the fund, has said aerospace manufacturing is defined by certification depth, execution discipline and long product lifecycles, the qualities that make the segment slow to enter and durable once entered.
Demand on the domestic side is being shaped by defence indigenisation policy and the growth of Indian drone manufacturing, while global tier-one manufacturers have been expanding what they source from India. Deep technology has drawn more investor attention steadily through the same period, with aerospace and defence among the segments taking a growing share.
