Iindepro Dynamics makes the electric motors that spin a drone's propellers
The Rajkot-based company designs and manufactures brushless motors for unmanned aircraft, in a component category India buys almost entirely from abroad.
A drone is mostly a set of motors. Everything else- the frame, the battery, the flight controller- exists to keep them turning at the right speed. The motor determines how long the aircraft stays up, how much it can lift and how reliably it does either. This makes it one of the more consequential parts to get right.
It is also a part India has largely not manufactured domestically.
The company says more than 90% of unmanned aircraft propulsion used here is imported, which leaves Indian drone makers paying import prices, waiting on long shipping times, with no way to request a motor built to their own specifications.
was incorporated in Rajkot in April 2023 to supply that part domestically. Its founders are Jaydeep Viramgama and Parag Jobanputra. Rajkot is an unusual base for it: the city is a long-established engineering and casting centre, better known for machine tools and automotive components than for aerospace.
The company frames its work around 'indigenisation', a term used often across Indian defence and drone manufacturing to describe replacing imported parts with ones made domestically.
A catalogue rather than a single product
The company makes brushless direct current motors, the type used in almost every electric drone. Its designs cover several configurations, including coaxial motors, where two rotors sit on a shared axis, and axial flux architectures, which the company describes as its patented design.
The engineering details it publishes are about heat and wear, which are what limit a drone motor in practice. It describes vortex cooling and a triple ball bearing arrangement, both aimed at motors that run hot for long periods without failing.
Rather than building one product, the company has been assembling a range. Viramgama said in late 2025 that it was working towards a portfolio of 18 motors across 25 different speed ratings, with a catalogue to follow, letting drone makers choose a motor the same way they would from an overseas supplier. Its customers post about it publicly.
A co-founder at the drone company SpanTrik has said Iindepro engineered coaxial motors to its requirements within 30 days, and another customer describes repeat orders for compact motors that were previously unavailable from Indian suppliers. Iindepro has also worked with a team at IIT Madras Research Park on a motor for a defence project.
Small numbers, and a place in Nice
Corporate filings record revenue of Rs 7.78 lakh for the year ended March 2025, and paid-up capital of about Rs 1 lakh. No funding round has been announced.
The company was selected for Bharat Innovates 2026, the government programme that took a group of Indian deep-tech companies to Nice, France in June, and it has been featured by the IIT Mandi incubator.
Its stated target markets extend beyond the drone sector to robotics and space. Its pitch to drone manufacturers is customisation as much as cost: a supplier that will design to a specification rather than sell from stock. For a drone company that needs a motor built to fit a particular airframe, a supplier in the same country is easier to work with than one several time zones away.
What the company has is a product range, named customers willing to say so publicly, and a market that currently buys from abroad. What it has not yet built is scale.
