Importance of Education in Entreprenurship

Importance of Education in Entreprenurship

Thursday October 20, 2016 , 5 min Read

In my opinion, " Knowledge of any kind is equal to dust if not used for one’s prosperity (Either Materialistic or Spiritual) ". Education provides us knowledge and intellect which when used with right action can take us to places and the road to success. So knowledge without action is useless. Knowledge is like bullets and action is like gun. If you don’t have a gun (action), you can’t do much with the bullets (knowledge). But if you don’t have bullets (knowledge), you can still hit your target by throwing the gun (action). This is however easier said than done.

So, I urge the youth of this nation in the words of the greatest teacher and leader of all time Shri Swami Vivekanad Ji. Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.

Unemployment if one of the biggest curse we have been fighting for past so many decades but haven’t been able to find any real time solution for the same. As per the Labour Bureau report Unemployment rate in India has shot up to a five-year high of 5 per cent in 2015-16, with the figure significantly higher at 8.7 per cent for women as compared to 4.3 per cent for men. So what can be the feasible solutions to curb unemployment? Well, I believe Entrepreneurship and Change in the education system are the only 2 panaceas to curb the same. Let’s see how?

Let us go through the 3 images below to analyze what has changed between them in last 100 years

Above is car 100 years ago and now, a phone used nearly a century ago and now and classroom used to teach 100 years ago and now Analyzing the above 3 pictures we can conclude that a lot has changed in terms of innovation and creativity when it terms to the car and the phone but a lot still needs to be changes in the way we impart education. The world has evolved and we need people who can think creatively, innovatively with the ability to connect. Every scientist will tell you that no 2 barins are the same and every parent with two or more children will confirm that claim. Its like if a doctor prescribed the exact same medicine too all of his patients, the result would be tragic and so many people would get sick yet,but when it comes to school, this is exactly what happens. This Educational malpractice, where one teacher stands in front of 20 kids, each one having different strengths, different needs, different dreams and you teach the same thing the same way? That’s horrific

Teachers have the most important jobs on the planet, they should earn as much as a doctors, because if a doctor can do a heart surgery and save the life of a child, a teacher can reach the heart of the kid and allow him to truly live and create a niche of himself. But they are somewhat helpless as the curriculum is created by policy makers who sometimes have not taught even once in their lives Teachers needs to paid well to understand and analyses his students are of interest, passion his strength and weakness.. So if can customize cars, heathcare, telecom and Facebook pages its our duty to do the same for education. To upgrade it. Change It. We need to create a system of collaboration instead of competition in schools, where students needs to be prepared to ask questions, he need not only be prepared to get jobs and employment or to become an Engineer,Doctor or Lawyer but concentrate on what excite him and what is he passionate about. Sure Math is important but no more than Art or Dance. Lets give every child an equal chance. Countries like Finland are doing impressive things and revolutionizing the education system with a focus on LESS = MORE i.e Fewer Classes- More Breaks, Less Testing-More Learning, Less Homework-More Participation to name a few. Khan academy is another such example changing the face of education through technology.

In recent times a term Drop Out, dictionary meaning - abandon a course of study has become a precursor to the entrepreneurship success because some legend entrepreneurs of our times like Steve Jobs,Bill Gates,Michael dell to name a few were all school or college drop outs and yet achieved great success when started something of their own. But Entrepreneurship isn’t only about recently coined or fashionable terms like Drop out or Startups its more about your ability to solve people’s problem, help the society and work with perseverance on something you are passionate about.

“Ideas are easy. Implementation is hard.” - Guy Kawasaki
