Why to not follow your dreams?

You must have heard a lot that you should follow your dreams. But I say do not. It's a trap. :-P

Follow your dreams is highly overrated. Life is not that optimistic, its harsh. Not all dreams come true. You have to live up with this harsh reality. Majority of dreamers fail, dreams got shattered. People fail.

So my advice to you is to not follow. Let me explain why.

1. Work/Life balance.

Late nights? Early Mornings? 120 hour-weeks? Why in the name of God anyone would do that. Just think if you don’t follow your dreams, you will have plenty of time to enjoy, watch TV Series, movies, chill out with friends and etc etc. Short breaks in office will be just breaks and not call meetings with potential clients. Sundays will be fun and not just running behind people who don’t believe in you.

2. Never Get Criticized.

If you never want to be criticized, for goodness' sake don't do anything new.”- Jeff Bezos

No one’s going to doubt you. You don’t need to explain 100 people on a regular basis that what you believe is right. You don’t need to beg your parents for extra time before they get you married. You don’t need to face the society and their cutting questions, Phew!

3. No Need to Save Money.

What you earn is what you spend! Cool! No need for extra cost cutting on your tight budgets. No need of wearing the same t-shirts for months. No need to sleep on floors, when you can't pay rents. No need to borrow from anyone. No need to runaway from money lenders. No need to be a Vijay Shekhar Sharma. So, when your boss buys a car, buy a bigger one.

4. NO FOMO.

When your friends going to higher studies, planning for marriage or settling abroad. You may not be stuck in the web of your dreams. You may not be studying 16 hours a day to crack an exam. You may not be sending resumes to top notch companies. You may not be the one pitching to investors and doing everything from sales, marketing, tech to get your product out in the market.

5. You will never FAIL.

Read Again, “You will never FAIL”. If you follow your dreams you may face failures on a regular basis. But think if you don’t, just think, Never Failing. Think how comfortable and safe life would be. Predictable, what you are doing today you will do the same for 20 years.

6. You will leave behind a legacy of stability.

Just think the example you will set for your kids, friends and acquaintances. They will learn from you and only think about stability and predictability. Do you think they will ever take risk? They will ever step out of their comfort zone. You will become an epitome of stability and predictability. They will follow your path and live life risk free. After all, does the world needs another Elon Musk or Steve jobs?
