Ministry of AYUSH inaugurates National Entrepreneurship Seminar on Ayurveda in New Delhi
The Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) on Sunday inaugurated the two-day National Seminar on Entrepreneurship and Business Development in Ayurveda, in New Delhi.
The event is being organised by the Ministry of AYUSH and NITI Aayog with the goal to encourage entrepreneurs and stakeholders towards businesses opportunities in the Ayurveda sector, according to an official statement.
Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for AYUSH, said, “Forming institutions and giving them funds is not enough to develop Ayurveda industry. In the last four years, the Ministry of AYUSH has taken several initiatives to promote Ayurveda industry and is striving to link it with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programs such as ‘Startup India’, ‘Make in India’, ‘Invest in India’ and ‘Digital India’.”
He added that ancient Ayurvedic scriptures, which have more than one lakh formulae, are collected in a traditional knowledge digital library. “Each one of these formulations can be used to treat 20 to 30 different diseases. In this way, we have 20 lakh medicines, which is an incredible and unimaginable figure for entrepreneurs,” he explained.
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary in the AYUSH Ministry, said, “The Ministry has taken up the challenge of increasing the market share of Ayurveda to threefold by 2022. We are working with Ministry of MSME to organise 50 entrepreneurship development programmes in the next year and covering states across the country. We are also in close cooperation with industry chambers such as FICCI, CII, PHD chambers, ASSOCHAM etc. to achieve this goal.”
Nearly 800 participants from across the country are expected to participate at the event. The seminar is expected to develop awareness among stakeholders about business opportunities, how to use technology, and how to promote their business in the field of Ayurveda.
