Web3 communication project Push Protocol (previously EPNS) is launching on BNB Chain in a bid to expand its reach and across new ecosystems, the startup announced today.

This means BNB Chain—the smart contract chain with the largest number of daily active users—will allow its users to access Push for the first time. BNB Chain has over 230 million unique wallet addresses and over $5 billion in total value locked.

Push's launch on BNB Chain will also expand the communication project's potential user base for its own wallet-to-wallet messaging and communications features.

"Launching on BNB Chain helps Push to get closer to its vision of onboarding one billion users to Web3. Until now, Push Protocol’s Web3 notification services have been limited to Ethereum and Polygon," said Harsh Rajat, Founder, Push Protocol. "We know BNB Chain is hugely popular with retail investors and are excited to expand our offering to this entirely new segment."

Web2 applications, especially mobile-first ones, utilise notifications, and there is a similar need for any Web3 app or business. However, Web3 apps currently rely on emails or other ways to communicate with users.

Direct notifications and messaging in Web3 are being powered by Push, which wants to bring decentralised communications to the masses through familiar user experiences.

"The expansion of Push's decentralised communications suite to BNB blockchain is a testament to its vision of bridging the gap between the traditional web and the decentralised world. The launch of Push Protocol on BNB Chain will bring a new level of accessibility to its easy-to-use communication interface," said Alvin Kan, Director - Growth, BNB Chain.

Once Push is launched on BNB Chain, it will allow decentralised apps on the network to send communications (on-chain, off-chain and gasless notifications) to user wallets. BNB Chain currently has over 1,300 active apps across gaming, NFT, Metaverse and Decentralised Finance (DeFi) sectors.

Last year, in April, Push raised $10.1 million in Series A funding at a valuation of $131 million. The round was led by Jump Crypto, with participation from Tiger Global, ParaFi, A.Capital, Sino Global Capital, Polygon Studios, Harmony Foundation, Wintermute, Zee Prime Capital, Woodstock Ventures, DCX Ventures, Alpha Wave Capital, Zebpay, TRGC, and iSeedVC.
