Founded by Gaurav Munjal, Roman Saini, and Hemesh Singh in 2015, Unacademy is an Indian online learning platform where students have access to a wide range of educational content. These majorly focus on competitive examinations and other academic subjects as well.


Unacademy provides courses for exams such as IIT JEE, NEET, SSC, CAT, and UPSC. This, combined with the live sessions and chat features, enables students to actively engage with their teachers and peers.


In November 2021 Unacademy acquired Swiftlearn, an online platform that provides live face-to-face online tuition for students.


Some of its courses are free whereas some are paid that can be availed by subscribing to Unacademy Plus, which allows users access to premium content.


In June 2020, Unacademy acquired the non-profit coding platform CodeChef, and in July 2020 they acquired PrepLadder, which was a platform for medical entrance exam preparation.


Based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, Unacademy has raised over $830 million from funding across 12 rounds. According to Crunchbase, the company has over 40 investors, including SoftBank Vision Fund, Peak XV Partners (earlier Sequoia Capital India), Elevation Capital, Blume Ventures, Facebook, Nexus Venture Partners, Temasek Holdings, and Waterbridge Ventures, among others.
