An alumnus of the University of Delhi, Ankit Agrawal served as the COO of autotech platform InsuranceDekho. A part of the CarDekho Group, is on a mission to revolutionise the insurance space in India. The startup has grown into one of the leading new-age insurance tech companies in the country today.
until 2019 before taking up the role of Founder and CEO atAt the forefront of InsuranceDekho, Agrawal is responsible for setting up and executing organisational strategy for growth and branding of the company. InsuranceDekho is backed by the likes of TVS Capital Funds, GirnarSoft, and Goldman Sachs.
As of February this year, the insurtech company claimed to be directly integrated with 46 insurance companies across India, offering more than 380 insurance products.
Besides sporting the entrepreneurial hat, Agrawal is also an angel investor Recently, in a fun and candid conversation for Rapid Fire with YS Life, Agrawal gave us a peek into his life beyond business.
YS Life (YSL): What are the three words that best describe you?
Ankit Agrawal (AA): Humble, go-getter, and a people person.
YSL: The last movie that inspired you?
AA: Coach Carter.
YSL: How often do you check your phone?
AA: Possibly every 30 minutes.
YSL: What is your guilty pleasure?
AA: Eating junk food.
YSL: Mountains or the beach?
AA: Beaches.
YSL: A habit you wish you could get rid of?
AA: Checking my phone frequently.
YSL: Money or fame?
AA: Fame.
YSL: Two startup founders that inspire you?
AA: Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos.
YSL: Two startup founders that you don’t mind getting stuck in an elevator with?
AA: Narayan Murthy and Jack Ma.
YSL: If you could change one thing about your journey, what would that be?
AA: Nothing, I love every moment of what I do.
YSL: Three things that you never leave the house without?
AA: My watch, my phone, and my wallet.
YSL: If not entrepreneurship then what?
AA: Traveller! I would have travelled around the world and written a blog about my experiences.
YSL: One thing that you hate about your job?
AA: Nothing. This is a privilege, I love every single thing about my job.
YSL: What is your most prized possession?
AA: A handwritten letter by my dad, which he sent me when I was leaving home for the first time. I still carry it with me.
YSL: The mantra that you live by?
AA: Treat my people well and take care of them.
