What is the Net Impact Fellows Program?
The Net Impact Fellows Program is a 12-month part-time fellowship for two individuals dedicated to using the power of business and a network of like-minded individuals to change the world. Fellows will help Net Impact scale its impact internationally with a specific focus on India, China, Brazil and Western Europe. Fellows should have a passion for effecting change as well as a range of business skills for implementing innovative ideas and methods for building Net Impact’s international network.
The Fellowship begins with two months in the field where Fellows carry out initial research in their country of focus and meet Net Impact’s local partners. This initial field experience is followed by a 2-day training and capacity-building session at Net Impact’s office in San Francisco where fellows learn about Net Impact’s operational model, hone specific skills needed during the Fellowship term, create an initial project plan, and get to know the people and culture of Net Impact.
After orientation Fellows returns to the field to begin work on their project, which will focus on four key areas:
- Growing the Net Impact network by starting and linking Net Impact chapters
- Establishing relationships with key NGO, corporate, and educational partners
- Creating a business plan for Net Impact’s expansion in the region
- Organizing a 100-person action-oriented summit to culminate their fellowship and convene key decision-makers and players in the regional Net Impact community
Through the course of the Fellowship, Fellows will have the opportunity to build personal networks, hone leadership skills, develop entrepreneurial skills, and change the world through business.
Who becomes a Net Impact Fellow?
Net Impact Fellows are first and foremost individuals with a passion for changing the world through business. Fellows should have a keen interest in Net Impact’s core themes of corporate responsibility, environmental sustainability, and social entrepreneurship while possessing leadership experience, the ability to solve problems creatively, and the ability to thrive in challenging situations. Fellows should also be located in or relocating to China, India, Brazil, or Western Europe.
Net Impact is flexible and will accept applications from those working full-time, part-time, or enrolled in an advanced degree program who are able to dedicate the 35+ hours a month as a Fellow.
