Dr.Sameera G. Sirguroh, Founder, The Wellness Clinic, Mumbai.

Monday December 08, 2008 , 4 min Read

Very few of us have a real passion for what we do and a job makes us happy only on pay day. But sometimes, a fascination develops out of nowhere and it leads us to places that our destiny alone knows.

Dr. Sameera is one such person who has followed her fascination and made a mark for herself in the field of Medicine. No, she will not give you a page long prescription full of drugs that could give you undesirable side effects. She has rather chosen that branch of Medicine which is so specific in its approach, it almost eliminates side effects. Homeopathy is Sameera's fascination and she is a popular cosmetologist and Homeopathic practitioner living her dream.

Founder of The Wellness Clinic, based out of Mahim in Mumbai, she says, from her days in school, she wanted to do something that would make a difference in people's lives. At the same time, this medicine guru wanted independence. What better way to achieve both than by combining passion and responsibility.

In our rendezvous, we asked her how things were when she began this venture. Reflecting, she says, "Today every profession has become pure business. Even Homeopathic doctors and cosmetologists use extensive ad campaigns to reach out to the masses. Patients tend to get carried away and look for branded clinics. But I've always believed that if one cures the patient completely and serves them genuinely then people are bound to trust my expertise. The last 4 years have been a testimony to this. I have had patients not just from all parts of Mumbai but also from other parts of Maharashtra. In fact some of my cosmetology patients have come to me after having bad experiences with other branded clinics."

Ceasing the opportunity to learn more about Homeopathy, we asked Doctor saab, how it is a better alternative to say Allopathy.

She goes on to give us an extremely focussed answer just as her expertise itself. "Homeopathic remedy is very specific to cause and effect, for example a popular anti-inflammatory drug Combiflam or Brufen will reduce inflammation of any tissue in the body irrespective of the pathology, but Aconite, a Homeopathic remedy, which can be used in this similar situation, cannot be used without considering the specific cause, the pathology and the tissue affectation. This specificity in Homeopathy makes a prescription much more focused and results in cure without undesirable side effects."

And what about other symptoms like the patient's mental health condition?

She says "Homeopathic remedies are often more effective than other remedies because they address other factors like mental & emotional stress, symptomatic expression of other organs, nutrition, habits etc, as all of these modulates immunity and affect health."

So we know that Homeopathy is focussed because it does not separate a person's physical condition from their state of mind and this helps to practically eliminate side effects. But what is the one thing that she truly loves about her profession?

Sameera answers instantly, "Since the last eight years I have been treating patients from all walks of life and it is truly satisfying when I see my patients completely cured and happier human beings."

She adds, "In many developed countries more and more people are making homeopathy their first choice of treatment. This is a very exciting prospect and I am proud to be a part of this revolution in medicine."

As a successful Homeopath and cosmetologist, what would you like to say to all other budding Doctors?

"In my classes at Tulips, I teach my students to be thorough medical practitioners, concentrate on the patient, provide customized skin care solutions and it will automatically make them successful practitioners. Doctors cannot be like businessmen whose only aim is profit."

And what are the specialist's future plans?

She is looking to open more such clinics that focus on well being and holistic healing. She would like to collaborate with like minded people who want to do this more for self satisfaction than for money.
