~ Launches a range of 3G Embedded Zipbooks for the first time in India ~ || ~ Unveils 7 stylish, smart, feature-rich phones ~ || ~ Products to be available in over 10,000+ outlets ~New Delhi, December 22, 2009: India’s homegrown Olive Telecommunication, a leading Convergence Solutions Device Developer, today launched its new brand ‘Olive Convergence’. The new brand has been envisioned to provide simple solutions to the everyday requirements in a world of connectivity at delightfully affordable prices.

Showcasing its strength in leveraging the 3G technology for simpler, on-the-move broadband connectivity solutions, the company has launched India’s first ever range of Zipbooks (3G Embedded Netbooks), as part of its Olive Convergence brand portfolio, a truly anytime - anywhere mobile broadband solution.

Speaking at the launch, Arun Khanna, Chairman, Olive Telecommunication said, “Olive Convergence represents the spirit of breaking down barriers and un-complicating lives of the customers and users in this rapidly emerging wireless world. Olive Convergence is an idea that is powered by an aspiration of providing our customers with products that are not only on the threshold of new technology innovations but also aim at creating new benchmarks in affordability of mobile computing and communication products.”

The Olive Convergence Zipbook is truly the mobile computing device that gives the user not only the ideal mobile broadband experience as the technology is expected to deliver, but also a versatile and powerful computing machine.

Olive Telecommunication has tied up with Tata Teleservices for its EVDO based Netbooks and the same will be available to consumer from select Tata Indicom Stores and through the Tata Photon channel. On the other hand the company for its HSPA version based Netbooks has got into an agreement with BSNL, which would be made available in all BSNL 3G circles.


On the sidelines of the launch of Olive Convergence, the company also launched 7 models of mobile phones starting at Rs 999. These include 2 touch screen phones viz., Olivepwrr and Olivetouch; Olivemsgr – the QWERTY keypad phone; 2 candy bar phones viz., Olivecompacta and Oliveglide and 2 dual sim/dual standby phones viz., V-G400 (clamshell) and V-G500 (slider).

As a first step in the commercial roll out of its products, the company has tied-up with leading technology product distributors and re-distributors to reach out in Tier 1, 2 & 3 cities. The tie-ups ensure availability of Olive Convergence products to 10,000+ retail touch points across the country. The company is also finalizing LFR outlet relationships.

The company also shared information about its innovative, futuristic and cutting-edge convergence devices including a state of the art modem equipped with hi capacity memory chip, ability to tune into FM, a Dictaphone and also act as an MP3 player.

The new Olive Convergence portfolio is replete with WCDMA, CDMA, GSM and EV-DO handsets, Mobile Computing Devices and Advanced data modems for wireless broadband.

Olive Telecommunication due to its strong partnerships with service providers is also currently working with them to offer attractive bundled offerings that will not only benefit the customers but also hold the potential to positively add value to the service operators’ offerings.
