“A winning Streak of talent”
A talent that has promise deserves to be showcased to the world in as glorious a setting as possible. Sometimes the opportunity comes late in life and for some not at all. Shivali Bakshi is an entrepreneur who will not wait for someone to give her that platform but will create her own. Yourstory presents an insightful conversation with Shivali Bakshi creator, entrepreneur and founder of the “Streak” label.
What led you to start your streak” and who do you make your designs for?
Shivali Bakshi’s couture started with the launch of the label ’streak’ which caters to the interests of women of today, we are doing western ,Indian and fusion trying to capture all the moods of a woman because at times she wants to look sexy, at times chic, classy etc. My designs are all about exploring and experimenting because we cannot draw lines against any form of art. A passion from childhood and finally generalized into profession is like a dream come true for me. All that is important for me is 100% satisfaction of my clients because I can be happy only if I see them happy with my garments and considering excellence my motto I will always try to give the best.
What is the extent to which your work can reach people?
The scope as a designer is very vast in the industry. I will always try and give something new to the so called fashion conscious people because I’m so much in love with my profession that I put my heart and soul into each design worked by me
What in your opinion will make “streak” click with your audience?
I believe in working hard and giving my 100 percent in whatever I do. When you are devoted to your work I think the results are overwhelming and this naturally helps to scale-up the business.
Why did you choose to design and sell your own label?
I chose to be an entrepreneur because here I’m free to turn my ideas into reality and work on them and there is more scope for me to explore and being in a job would have put limitations.
Is entrepreneurship a greater challenge or designing?
Every new garment for a designer is a challenge. To put “ur” ideas on a piece of paper and then actually giving them a real form is always a challenge and I’m open to take these challenges forever.
Do you feel you have arrived on the fashion scene with "streak”?
I still have to achieve heights and I’m getting recognition n appreciation for my designs as a budding designer so that’s an achievement in itself.
What is the main reason for you to continue to be in business for yourself?
I want to stay buckled on the rollercoaster ride of entrepreneurship because it gives me freedom to work as I want and all the successes and failures of my company would be mine.
What entrepreneurial lesson would you pass on to our readers?
Do your work with great enthusiasm and be loyal to it. Don’t ever try to give up even in the hard times because that might be a learning process. Be committed to your work and you will get great results.
Yourstory wishes Shivali all the success that her talent can gather and hopes to see her creations adorn many an Indian woman.
