Meet Manjiri Gokhale Joshi Founder & CEO of Maya CARE. With a network of women volunteers, Maya Care provides a range of services to senior citizens ranging from opening a bank account, grocery shopping, emailing documents, paying bills, visiting the doctor and event accompanying them for social events. A former journalist with the Indian Express and a former employee of ICICI Lombard, Manjiri started Maya CARE in 2009 and has already helped over 60 senior citizens lead an independent life while living in their own homes.

Meet Dan Madsen, pioneer of the concept of retirement living spaces for the elders. His venture One Eighty has developed over 40 communities with close to 10,000 apartment units for the elderly across US, Canada and Mexico. And now Dan is bringing his innovation to India with his JV Aamoksh One Eighty. A first of its kind retirement living retreat that combines hospitality and housing needs for seniors, Aamoksh One Eighty has 2 projects up for launch in Kodaikanal and Dehradun this year. With 6 more destinations across the country on his radar, Dan’s vision is to operate 300 apartment units by 2012.

Also meet a teacher student duo of Dr Avani Maniar and Shivani Mehta, Founders of Jobsforelderly.in, an entrepreneurial venture that was incubated at the MSU University of Baroda. Launched in 2007 the web portal gives the elderly a shot at a second innings in the job market. Jobsforelderly.in has placed more than 400 senior citizens so far.
