Sunday June 13, 2010 , 5 min Read

Vishal Patidar
Most people assume that having a background with certain educational and financial advantages is a necessary element for entrepreneurial success. Vishal Patidar, Shailendra Tikariya, and Venay Chawada are three young entrepreneurs whose bright business ideas have an air of defiance. Their venture in, “THE PERENNIAL ODYSSEY” is not just about their own empowerment but also that of their peers.

Yourstory spoke to Vishal Patidar who let us into his private struggles and entrepreneurial aspirations with “THE PERENNIAL ODYSSEY”

What is the story behind “The Perennial Odyssey”?

“The Perennial Odyssey” is a monthly innovative newspaper that set up a communication path between the youth and their needs. TPO news is providing relevant stuffs that inspire all kind of students…..

A venture started by three students of IES IPS ACADEMY INDORE, (Vishal Patidar, Shailendra Tikariya, Venay Chawada) Aiming towards empowering youth and providing them qualitative and quantitative knowledge. Now a day’s youth needs a mentor, a guide, a teacher and thus so we are here to motivate and guide them.

TPOnews is a youth innovative monthly newspaper which is all about youth empowerment and innovation. We are giving them a platform where they can come across and share their thoughts. We are responsible for setting up a communication path where they can meet their needs and share the ideas. TPOnews consist of all kinds of information, knowledge regarding technical and non technical, inspirational and motivational thoughts and articles, career guideline, developing young entrepreneurs during studying in academics, suggesting them a way of building career options, means giving them a guideline to a field they can perform well in, latest happenings and events around them, providing them relevant stuff which is very helpful to take a step forward. And we have a student’s zone where they can prove their skills and knowledge and creativity which make their own identity.

Who are the primary readers that you are targeting?

We are targeting to all kinds of students (technical or non technical). We are targeting the youth. There is a huge scope in this newspaper because now day’s students are very busy in academics events and assignments, they are not regular readers of newspaper, and most of the time of they are spending in academics, books and coaching institutes. And if there is some kind of students who want to know of global events then they are unable to find the positive news and stuff which can help them gain knowledge and get inspiration.

Now if talk about the figure of the students strength in Indore city where I launched newspaper then there are around 3 lakhs of students which is doing their professional courses so there is a great scope in this city and our newspaper is the fastest growing newspaper among the youth. It is not so costly for the students to purchase a 5 rupee copy of the TPOnews.

And if we talk about the coaching institutes and professional degree programs institutes then there are around 40 colleges for engineering students only and various training and coaching institutes are here which require a hand to hand marketing, now TPOnews is only way to fulfill the criterion of their needs, because our subscribers are mostly youth oriented.

Why did you make your first entrepreneurial venture a newspaper?

Initially I was thinking of establishing a Manual Radio that grooms the communications skills of the students and making them globalize with the world and thinking up many programs for them, but it was not so easy for me to collect the amount needed. But there was something that I wanted to do something for the students and give them a platform.

What spurred you to become an entrepreneur?

I wanted to become an entrepreneur, so I have chose entrepreneurship as my career, and started to work. I found my two seniors who also had a dream like me. Initially I faced many problems publishing this newspaper; no one was there to encourage us whereas everyone was talking about the regular job of 8 am to 8 pm in the multinational companies. We decided to launch our newspaper and getting started on business.

What would be the best action that an aspiring entrepreneur can take?

Being a Hindi medium student I faced many problems, but I never fell down a single time in my life and gave the reason of being Hindi medium student behind my problems. I always tried to face the challenges whatever it was, and believe in development of myself. Finally I have got some success in publishing THE PERENNIAL ODYSSEY, which is now the fastest growing youth innovative newspaper in Indore city.

I want to suggest to those struggling entrepreneurs who are looking for their business idea that “don’t follow the big brands make your own brand” whatever concept you have, just start working on that not just thinking.

We believe that the future is bright for Vishal Patidar, Shailendra Tikariya, and Venay Chawada. They have proved that it is not about where you come from but about where you are going with their entrepreneurial efforts. Yourstory wishes them success and a glorious odyssey in the days to come.
