“I did something that challenged the banking world. Conventional banks look for the rich; we look for the absolutely poor. All people are entrepreneurs, but many don't have the opportunity to find that out.” - Muhammad Yunus
We all believe that education is the foundation of success. Just as scholastic skills are vitally important, so are financial skills and communication skills and somewhere down the road we happen to miss picking the latter ones. Robert T. Kiyosaki (author of “Rich Dad Poor Dad”) says this in a very interesting manner: “Academic qualifications are important and so is financial education. They're both important and schools are forgetting one of them.”
The spirit of bridging this gap & arming youth with the power of entrepreneurship has given birth to the Business Plan & Business Ideation competition called Srujan. The competition is being held in the wake of golden jubilee celebrations of Rotary Club Poona North in collaboration with Symbiosis Center for Information Technology.
Srujan, stands for creativity, and aptly points to the path of innovative entrepreneurship. It provides a platform for young participants (age 18 to 35) to come & express their business ideas & business plans in various fields pertaining to Indian society like: Education, Health, Information Technology, Energy, Water etc. Thus, Srujan not only gives wings to young aspirations but also encourages them to take the direction of inclusive growth & sustainable development, highlighting what was once said by Thomas Edison: "I never perfected an invention that I did not think about in terms of the service it might give others... I find out what the world needs, then I proceed to invent."
The competition has two genres; One is Business Ideation where participants have to submit their business idea (in approx 2 pages) the other is Business Ideation & Business Plan Competition where an exhaustive B-Plan is required in a given format. There are prizes for each competition category and if the winners of the Business Ideation & Business plan (Wherein you have to submit a Business Plan) wish to carry forward their idea, there is a facility of financing, which can be availed as per the conditions. The deadline to submit the Ideas & Plans is August 31, 2010 & you can reach us at [email protected] for any queries.
We at Symbiosis Center for Information Technology share this noble spirit with the Rotarians and believe in giving back to the world along with reaching the echelons of successful entrepreneurs. We urge you to participate in the competition with zeal. Putting it down in the words of Madam C.J. Walker, America's first black female millionaire (The Guinness Book of Records cites Walker as the first female who became a millionaire by her own achievements.) –
"I had to make my own living and my own opportunity! But I made it! Don't sit down and wait for the opportunities to come. Get up and make them!"
