Caught Doin' Good : Capturing stories of people who are doing good in India and around the world

Caught Doin’ Good is a project started by Philip Cotsford in August 2010. The basic concept is to create a website that will highlight individuals all over the world who are doing good things to build up communities around them. The final goal of the website will be an educational tool for anyone who ever thought to themselves "I want to do good', but didn't know where to start".Philip Cotsford is a 30 yr-old guy from suburban South Carolina who spent the last five years working as an English teacher in Tokyo and saving for his dream: to travel the world and "catch" people doing good. "I believe there are people doing great things all across the world with innovative world-changing ideas, but all we hear on the news are the bad stories. And the only connection we have with the changemakers is through large charity organizations with their well-funded marketing campaigns pulling at our heart-strings, but giving very few concrete facts. I want to find a way to bridge the gap between those out there with world-changing ideas and people in their busy lives who don't have time to search through across the internet for the great stories."
Using the tools of social media, especially the ever-increasingly accessible world of online video, Philip is traveling the world, meeting the world changers, and bridging that gap. He hopes to create a system of documenting stories through social media and YouTube video that anyone with a simple digital camera and a cheap video editing suite can create - and hopefully create a "Social Network of Catchers," where anyone can tell the great stories they find to the masses.Currently Philip is traveling across India searching for leads for his project, Caught Doin' Good, and documenting everything he can find. If you run or know of a project that could be documented on Caught Doin Good contact Philip here.
