Pitney Bowes Business Insight (PBBI), the software arm of US$6 billion Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE:PB) and among the top 20 software product companies in the world today announced major expansion of it’s product portfolio, in line with its vision of gaining market leadership in the fast growing Indian market for enterprise software and related solutions. A new, advanced version of MapInfo, its flagship product and a global market leader in the location intelligence space will now be available in the Indian market. Two new solutions which will empower its product portfolio in India - Crime Patroller, a solution that provides crime intelligence and Paramics, a traffic management solution will also be made available in India. Both these products are extensively used by organizations across the world and will help public organizations in India fill-in critical gaps. The software product major also shared that it will significantly increase its focus and footprint in the e-Governance/PSU space which it sees as natural synergies, considering its extensive experience in that arena globally, notwithstanding the immense trust it commands with governments and public sector organizations. Other key verticals of focus for PBBI in India would be in the areas of BFSI & Telecom.

In his comments, Manish Chowdhary, Managing Director, Pitney Bowes Software India, said, “With India leading e-governance innovations on a scale never seen before like UIDAI, the entire PBBI top management globally recognizes that there is a tremendous opportunity in the e-governance and public sector organizations space in India that has not been adequately tapped into. The product portfolio expansion is part of the multiple initiatives being planned in line with this thrust to gain market leadership for the company in this key area. In parallel, we are significantly expanding the customer facing, marketing and sales force which is already in excess of 100 and will further increase over the next year. The award-winning development center in India which is the largest outside of the US for PBBI is also being significantly involved, to customize solutions for the Indian market, honing our advantage even more. All of this combined with continuous investment and greater focus is what we are betting on as we try to accelerate our revenues out of the Indian market.”

According to Luis Maria Abraira, Sales Director, New Business Development Region (which includes India),“India has always been a focus market for PBBI but we are gearing ourselves now to step that up further and aim for market leadership in verticals of focus besides being recognized as a major player in the enterprise software here. India is now both the sales and channel hub for the entire SAARC region and will have one of the largest sales, marketing and customer support organizations of PBBI anywhere in the world. Our on-field activities will also grow in line and with our channel being expanded across levels

you will see a concerted effort to attain market leadership in chosen verticals and areas of focus.”
