TiE Chennai announced that it would have a significant deepening of focus on promoting, celebrating entrepreneurship in non-IT sectors. The change in focus as TiE Chennai shifts gears to expand its scope and contribution in catalyzing entrepreneurship in the state of Tamilnadu. TiECON Chennai 2011 will include new sessions and approach that incorporates this focus. In his comments, Lakshmi Narayanan, President, TiE Chennai, said, “Among the most active chapters in India, TiE Chennai has matured into a dynamic institution with a truly committed and talented leadership team at helm. In its vision for the future, the team chose not just to sustain the current success but build on it by expanding its’ role in the promotion and celebration of entrepreneurship in the state. And when one speaks of entrepreneurship in Tamilnadu two trends are evident - there is growing innovation across sectors and instances of entrepreneurs from across the state succeeding are leaping as well. This meant the larger role being envisaged for TiE Chennai must have a growing engagement and also celebrate significant entrepreneurial successes across the state. TiECON Chennai 2011 will reflect this focus strongly and we are currently planning one or two significant initiatives in this direction which are likely to be rolled out across the year.” “Unnaal Mudiyum Thambi – the session chaired by Y G Mahendra was among the most popular sessions at TiECON Chennai 2010 and those on the panel were successful entrepreneurs from FMCG, eye care & beauty sectors which only reinforces the need to deepen the focus and engagement,” he further added.
