Ashton Kutcher and Amazon CTO Werner Vogels invest in Berlin Startup Gidsy
Gidsy, an online service where people can discover, offer and book unique experiences has raised $1.2M Seed Investment from Sunstone Capital, Index Ventures, Amazon CTO Werner Vogels, Peter Read and Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher. Based in Berlin, Gidsy has launched in New York, Berlin, Amsterdam and will launch in San Francisco and London over the next two weeks. This is Ashton Kutcher's third startup investment in Berlin after SoundCloud and Amen. The new investors join Alexander Ljung and Eric Wahlforss from Soundcloud, Matt Stinchcomb from Etsy, Felix Petersen from Amen and 'investor of the year' Christophe Maire, who provided the company’s early financing.Gidsy which calls itself a community marketplace for activities and authentic experiences allows users to find and join activities and travel experiences. "Our goal is to make it easy as possible for you to find stuff to do, whether you are looking for a private guide to show you around local art spaces or take you mushroom picking in the forest. The community of organizers will try to make sure you will have a fantastic experience" reads their website.
