Brandsfetish is an exclusive online fashion portal which provides exclusive access to some of the best offers on some of the biggest brand names in the world. Launched just 10 days ago, Brandsfetish.com is based in Mumbai with operations in Ahmedabad as well.
Having tie ups with all the top distributors in India as well as in USA and Europe for international designer brands, this 30 people strong team, rosters of up-and-coming and established top brands in the women’s, men’s, children’s, beauty, gadgets, and home fashion categories.
In conversation with Abhilasha Dafria for YourStory.in, Raj Iyer, Founder, Brandsfetish tells us more about how his portal aims to become an e-commerce brand in itself for lifestyle products at privileged prices!
The man behind Brandsfetish
Raj is a Marketing Management graduate with several years of corporate experience. The entrepreneurship bug bit him sometime around 1999 and that’s when he forayed into the IT Services domain, which is now 300+ strong and going good. “I also forayed into the hospitality industry and experience was better than what I had expected,” said Raj.
Next, Raj launched Acumen Solutions and their first portal Groopoffers is operational for 16 months now and has broken even. “Our initial intention was to foray into fashion on the same platform itself, but a survey conducted amongst our stakeholders made us launch Brandsfetish, which is a one stop fashion hub for all the top designer brands. The brands are both Indian and International, with discounts ranging up to 90%,” said Raj.
Speaking about how he came up with the idea to start Brandsfetish, Raj said, “Well to gauge the response, we introduced a few designer labels on Groopoffers at heavily reduced prices and the response was extraordinary. This confirmed our belief of the enormous market potential of designer fashion goods at exclusive prices, which led us to the launch of Brandsfetish.”
Demand for high-end clothing domestic market
Today everyone wants to look good and wear clothes that make them feel good. “Disposable incomes have shot through the roof; add to that the fact that Indians are very knowledgeable about the latest fashion trends and international labels,” said Raj. So there is demand for high-end clothing in the domestic market and Brandsfetish hopes to tap into that. “Our sole aim is to present the latest authentic international designer brands and trends at never before seen prices,” added Raj.
Activity on the site so far
“Well these are early days, but even without any advertising we are seeing a healthy number of unique visitors daily and sales are also happening daily,” informed Raj. Brandsfetish provides Cash on Delivery services and are shortly integrating the EMI option as well.
Plans for the near future
Raj said that they have plans of starting international sales, but that is in the long run. Currently they are working on the logistics front, because that will determine whether they can successfully scale up or not. One of the co-founders of Brandsfetish has prior experience in the logistics industry. So Raj believes that they are on the right track. Brandsfetish is a bootstrapped venture, but they are currently in talks with a few investors.
Finally, speaking about the challenges of starting up in the e-commerce space, Raj said, “Well, I believe the e-commerce industry is more of a learning curve and you learn a lot along the way. All assumptions and predictions you have can easily be thrown out of the window. It took us some time to realize and understand the market trends and what makes the buyer tick.”
