CaratLane extends COD option for jewellery purchases to 214 Indian cities!

In what might sound as ludicrous, CaratLane.com, pioneers of online jewellery retail in India, today announced the launch of the Cash-On-Delivery (CoD) facility across 214 Indian cities and towns. "This step will bring CaratLane closer to a wider customer base across the country that have access to the internet, but not necessarily a financial instrument such as a credit or debit card. It is also expected to play a role in getting the first time online shopper, particularly from tier 2-3 geographies, to look at online shopping favorably." went the announcement.

The cash- on-delivery facility is available for purchases up to Rs 49000.

Launched primarily to enable customers get over the apprehension of making online payments, the cash on delivery option has also helped Indian ecommerce reach out to a wide base of shoppers across rural and semi-urban India without the precondition of possessing a banking card. Nearly half of all online shopping in India is reportedly with the COD option, and is instrumental in driving consumer adoption of online brands.
