FICCI to Partner with Jaipur Literature Festival in January next year
The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) will be the partner organisation for the Jaipur Literature Festival in January 2013. This was announced by Dr. Arbind Prasad, Director General, FICCI at the conference titled ‘PubliCon 2012: Digital Publishing’ at New Delhi.
‘PubliCon 2012: Digital Publishing’ was organised on September 3-4, 2012 at FICCI, Federation House, New Delhi. The programme focused on the new wave of Digital publishing, with special focus on the India market. The major highlights of the programme were: monetizing content in the digital age, new marketing models for e-readership, potential markets for digital book in India, evolution of 360° publishing content, educational transformation with digital content for the classroom, e-publishing and distribution rights, digital rights managements, digital libraries etc.
The conference was inaugurated by Ms. Namita Gokhale, Member Secretary, Indian Literature Abroad, Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The inaugural session was addressed, amongst others, by Ms. Urvashi Butalia, Chairperson, FICCI Publishing Committee and Director, Zubaan and Ms. Farida M. Naik, Joint Director, NBT, Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
Setting the context for the deliberation for the next two days of the conference, Ms. Gokhale, emphasized the significance of e-publishing, stating that “the human mind is constantly changing from a linear model to a simultaneous 360 degree one. However, the sanctity of the idea has remained unchanged.”
A compilation of selected papers on digital publishing was also released during the inaugural session of the conference. The publication brings together several articles addressing the present scenario of digital publishing as well as future issues and opportunities in the sector.
