There's no shying away from the fact that with the boom of startups in India, there will also be an increase in the number of startups that shut down or if you're a lover of euphemisms, pivot. In a recent development, Aurality, an instant podcast tool which at initial glance looks like a very promising idea has discontinued its services.
Aurality had also raised a seed round of USD 280k where prominent Indian angels such as Rajan Anandan (Google India MD), Srijan Capital and Blume ventures participated.
As per reports, Aurality hasn't shut down but has pivoted and will be coming up soon with a different model. Bhavin Badheka, the founder hasn't reverted to mails but Ravi Trivedi of Srijan Capital who has invested in Aurality said that, "We aren't disclosing anything else apart from what has been said on the site. The services have been discontinued as of now but the company hasn't shut down."
More pivots seem like a natural result of a budding startup ecosystem. There have been many stories that have surfaced recently:
Sukshm Information Services Pivoted from Market Research to Rural BPO
Koolkart Pivoted to being a pure play fashion eCommerce company
YourNextLeap Pivoted from Being a Career Recommendation to a Jobs Site
