Christmas Gift From Google for iOS Users - Google Maps Now Available for iOS 6 devices
Google announced on its official blog that it has released Google Maps for iOS 6 devices. Here is an excerpt from the blog reporting the same -
"People around the world have been asking for Google Maps on iPhone. Starting today, we’re pleased to announce that Google Maps is here—rolling out across the world in the Apple App Store. It’s designed from the ground up to combine the comprehensiveness and accuracy of Google Maps with an interface that makes finding what you’re looking for faster and easier."
Post the launch of the iPhone 5, the announcement that it wouldn't feature the premier maps app came as a surprise to many and the iOS maps didn't live up to its initial promise. After months of waiting, iOS 6 users now have the all new Google maps, which according to Google's claims, has been worked ground up, to specifically suit the newest edition of Apple's mobile OS.
The app includes sharper looking, vector-based map that loads quickly and provides smooth tilting and rotating of 2D and 3D views, nn expandable info sheet at the bottom shows the address, opening hours, ratings and reviews, images, directions and other information and all the other features of the current version of Google Maps for other devices.
Many Apple device users refrained from upgrading their devices to iOS 6 due to the lack of a proper Maps apps. Those who made the upgrade had to rely on alternate Maps services like Wayz and Nokia Maps. Google has by far the best Navigation and Maps service for India and it was sorely missed by iOS 6 users in India. This news from Google has provided a reason for joy in the app users fraternity all around the world.
