Simplifying eCommerce for small businesses; Zepo now launches an about.me for online stores
"In one simple line, Zepo makes online selling simple & easy," says founder Nitin Purswani. The claim is that using Zepo, one can open their online store in under 5 minutes and many already have. Companies like Ediots, Chemical Locha and more than 200 others have used Zepo as their platform. Zepo was launched about 2 years ago and is a Morpheus Gang company that subsequently secured backing from One97 Mobility Fund. In an effort to make the experience better, Zepo has launched a Welcome Page feature recently which acts like a about.me page for online stores.
Nitin is a Bachelor of commerce who started up a t-shirt company earlier post which he launched an online venture, Bijness.in. Two failed startups can put many on the backfoot but it's commendable on Nitin's part to persevere and hit back. Gaining insight, he has now managed to build a 10 member company based out of Delhi. What Zepo has to offer-
- A good looking frontend
- A simple & easy to use dashboard to manage it
- Accept online payments with a Free Payment gateway
- Assisting them in logistics with a Bluedart partnership
Talking about marketing and revenue streams, Nitin says, "One of the greatest sources of customer acquisition for us has been word-of-mouth & referrals. We recently launched our Partner Program as well for Web Developers, Bloggers, e-Commerce Consultants and Students; wherein we will be sharing upto 30% of revenue with all our partners."
Nitin has a different view about eCommerce. "We believe in a more sustainable and sensible use of e-commerce - "e-commerce as a Channel" - where retailers, small manufacturers and brands use e-commerce to solve real problems in their business. They use it just like another medium of taking orders, like a telephone." There are other bigger players like Martjack and Buildabazaar who have a headstart over Zepo but Zepo intends to fight it out. Here is a comparison that Zepo provides:
