Eat Healthy! Mumbaikars can say 'Bowls To You' to forced lunches
If you're a working professional, daily meals is probably not something you're really happy about. "Same old, same old" is the usual complaint and let's not even get into the 'unhealthy' part of it. The prospect of a different and healthy meal each day would surely make the office going Indian salivate. Currently only available in Mumbai, 'Bowls To You' is an online health food service for lunch & evening meal/dinner.
Users need to select their location and accordingly the site displays the nearby chefs who make homemade salads & sandwiches for delivery. Having launched in November 2012, the service currently has a presence in limited areas but is still managing a healthy 18 salad deliveries a day on an average. Lower Parel and BKC areas in Mumbai has seen great acceptance with the minimal marketing BowlsToYou has done.
Founded by Pinank Shah and Brijesh Chedda, BowlsToYou didn't really expect the kind of response that they've generated. "We were really overwhelmed with the reactions Mumbaikars have shown till now. They're completely loving the idea," says Pinank, who is also the founder of Digicult, an online marketing agency. Digicult also has Goosebumpickles under its banner and they way they work is that 50% ownership remains with Pinank (Digicult) while other 50% is with the partner (Brijesh in case of BowlsToYou).
Talking about the inspiration behind starting up, Pinank says, "We have seen a lot of websites that allow people to order food from any of the restaurants nearby or away. So we didn’t want to invest time in reinventing the wheel. But we certainly wanted to work for the food industry where the shelf life is less than 3 hours. That’s where the brainstorming started…"
The aim is to give the housewives/male chefs a chance to take their expertise to a wider audience and also provide the people with options for their meals. BowlsToYou intends to stick to Salads and Sandwhiches. Revenue model works on a simple 60-40% split, wherein the chef makes 60% of the MRP which includes their materials, cooking skills & profits. The rest 40% is made by BTY which includes Deliveries, Packaging, Taxes & Profits.
Well designed, the site looks sumptuous and the idea can go a long way. Brijesh comes from a logistics background and implementing it properly will be key in ensuring timely deliveries. Sharing their roadmap, Pinank concludes, "Currently we are focusing on enrolling more & more housewives/male chefs with a passion for cooking and who want to show their cooking skills while making a decent amount of money by dedicating just a few hours everyday and live independent lives. At the same time, we intend the users to eat healthy food atleast once a day so that they can spare themselves to eat a burger in the evening"
