"There are 3 principles for a successful life: Do your best, Love your work, and find joy in what you do. That’s how we came up with the name of our company,” says Vijith Padmanabhan, co-founder of Dolojo, as well as its mentor and idea man.
Vijith, along with Amit S Namboodiri, launched their first product, Bluebag.in, in early 2012. Bluebag.in is a social bookmarking site. With its success and new clientele, the company was renamed Dolojo. During the last six months, Dolojo has scaled good heights and the team of 2 has also grown to a team of 10. “Being a part of the team is a great experience” says Sebin Thomas, the Chief Technical Officer at the startup. “The principle of the company is DO, LOve, Joy and we are given the freedom to do what we love,” says Sebin.
“We believe in connecting people with similar interests. It is what everyone is looking for”, says Amit, the lead designer of the team. They are currently working solely on user driven applications. Their new product, Shoutcrow has gone beta and is already getting good reviews.
“We have always wished that we could share parts of a site, audio or video, without having to send the whole file. With Shoutcrow, this is going to be a reality,” says Vijith. Shoutcrow is a site plus browser extension with the idea to share only what matters. With the browser extension, one can take screenshots of a specific area in a web page, clip Youtube videos, music, etc. Users can also search for media shared or recommended by others.
Their other products include futfolle.com, which is a social shopping site, where users can shop for an item based on reviews from other shoppers. It also gives price comparisons of various items from major eCommerce sites. So, if you want to buy a Samsung Galaxy S2, futfolle would show you which online site has the best price for it, and whether these retailers give reliable service. As the tagline goes, “futfolle makes you smarter online.”
This bunch of youth from Model Engineering College, Ernakulam, have many ideas and plans for the future. “We plan to get into the electronics domain”, says Vijith. His next id
But at this point they are only concentrating on web applications. “Our motto is to connect people. We also develop our site based on psychological factors such as light colors that make the site pleasing to the eye,” explains Harisankar, the Chief Product Officer and Dolojo’s forthcoming product is going to be a personal broadcasting instrument, that can broadcast real time audio using internet, where every person who owns the device, or has logged on to the net can hear the broadcaster, if they wish.
They are also in talks with investors and have plans to expand our office to Bengaluru.
What matters most to them? “Connecting people is what matters”.
