Some while back, we had covered Mad Orders that was later rebranded as Mad Bites, a venture that satiated your midnight craving by getting food right at your doorstep in the middle of night. Jigar Zatakia and Gautam Udani, the founders of Mad Bites, are now moving to the blooming space of eCommerce with their new venture India Orders.India Orders basically sees itself as an online mall. They have an assortment of companies and products whom they have tied up with. This enables companies to put up their product for the online audience without setting up a dedicated space/website to do so. Customers get to choose from the wide range of products available and get it delivered at the click of a button. A win-win for both parties.
Gautam known for his technical prowess, is managing the backend of the site, creating a strong stable platform. Jigar is managing the marketing and operations, a challenging task considering the scale they plan to reach while their new co-founder Ateev Gala is handling the financial aspect of things.
Their primary source of revenue is commissions from the retailers who sell through their website, with an average commission of around 23%.Currently they are focussing on tying up with some of the biggest brands in and around Mumbai. Presently in the beta phase they plan to develop a firm footing in the city after which they will expand to other cities through the country. With competition in this space increasing at an exponential rate, quick scaling without compromising on the quality of customer service will be crucial for their growth and survival. Building a phenomenal team and getting brands and chains to come on board are some of the biggest challenges that the startup faces. A competent team is the backbone of every startup. India Orders has a strong team, but are looking for good quality talent in various fields (content, marketing etc)to join their team. (You can see a complete list on our YS Jobs board.) They are also in the process of striking deals with major brands that will give them an edge in this space.
