Housing.co.in launches a preview of an innovative land classified section

Tuesday August 13, 2013 , 3 min Read

Mumbai based real estate portal, Housing.co.in has been known for innovative features on it's map based real estate portal over the past one year, and it continues to do so with it's latest offering - they have recently launched a preview of a land classified on their site. This time again, their approach (which the Housing.co.in team calls, the "real data approach") towards the product is quite innovative.

The preview shows a photosphere view of the land that you're browsing, giving the user a 360 degree view of the land that they're looking to buy. You can even zoom in and out of the image; the experience is next to actually being at the land itself. You can play around with the preview here.

In a conversation with Housing.co.in co-founder Advitiya Sharma said, "Land as a segment of real estate hasn't been done justice to. We intend to cover about 10k villages. We also feel farmers and villagers need a fair and open market place to sell their lands at fair prices. So we're really excited about this opportunity."

Advitiya shared that the product came from requests from Housing.co.in's B2B customers. He said, "We got requests from brokers and builders from the 'demand side'. Also our surveys in dozens of villages and the feedback from the 'supply side' was very positive. It's new and innovative, so we're extremely excited about this."

As a part of this launch, the company is also going to see an increase in workforce - "We are taking the same "authenticity of data approach" to the land sector. We plan to have thousands of people working under this section soon. We are starting with Pune and its nearby villages then gradually it'll be rolled out for other locations as well."

The product hasn't been launched yet, as the Housing.co.in team is looking to build up a critical inventory level. Apart from this, the team also has a lot of other features in the making, including this new projects feature (which we will bring to you in more detail soon) - "We want to be the Google of real estate. Soon you will see our main header menu bar filled with more disruptive services."

Since it's 3 funding rounds, Housing.co.in has been putting out many innovative products, be it from their data sciences lab or products like the land classifieds. While not all these products are revenue generating, it is very refreshing to see a young Indian company defining standards for innovation.
