Ukranian trying to pull off a "Million Dollar Page" with a Map this time; Sells spaces worth USD 27,000

Vadim
Most of us know about the Million Dollar Homepage created by Britisher Alex Tew, back in 2005. The home page consists of a million pixels arranged in a 1000 × 1000 pixel grid; the image-based links on it were sold for US$1 per pixel in 10 × 10 block and Alex did this to raise money for his education. In a similar effort, Vadim, a Ukarnian has now come up with "Piece Of My World".

"The essence of the project is to create a map of the world, which is entirely for advertisements.

All profits of the project may be more than a million dollars. I have already earned more than 27,000 dollars selling territory on the world map," Vadim told us via an email. (the claim hasn't been confirmed in any other way)

2% of the map has been sold and most of this comes from the US and Ukraine. Parts of Europe have also been covered (97 territories in all). The price of each area depends on its actual size and is calculated on the assumption that a real 100 sq.km. area is worth $1.

Rather outlandish, campaigns like these click sometimes and the creators become a part of the history in the crazy books of the internet.

Here's more about 'The Piece of My World', you might just get more ideas to raise funding for your startup.
